The Sinulog Festival of Cebu City is perhaps the Philippines' biggest festival to date. In honor of the Sto Nino, or the Child Jesus, the Sinulog is celebrated yearly on the 3rd Sunday of January along with all the grand events.

The festival kicks of on a Friday, nine days before the grand celebration, with a solemn mass at the Basilica del Sto. Nino, and then a parade to the Cebu City Sports Center follows.

The week long festivities is filled with events like parades, cultural shows, beauty pageant, street party bands, mardi gras, historical re-enactment, street bazaars, Solemn Procession of the Miraculous Image of the Sto. Nino and so much more. So bring your cameras and capture the many colorful events that this festival has to offer.

The Sinulog started in 1980 and has grown yearly until it became the biggest celebrated festival in the Philippines. Coverage of the colorful festival is watched by millions in the Philippines and attendees reach the hundreds of thousand mark. That's how grand this event is and should not be missed when visiting the Philippines in January. The downside of it is hotels all over Metro Cebu are always fully booked during this 9 day festival.
