Shopping in Manila a Unique Experience
when in the Philippines, shopping in Manila is something you wouldn't want to miss in terms of experience and bargain finds. Shopping centers and malls are sprawled all over Metro Manila, it's sometimes difficult to choose where to begin. There are about nine malls within walking distance from EDSA alone in it's whole stretch. The biggest malls in the Philippines are from the SM group, Robinsons, and the Ayala Group. Mall shopping in Manila has been a tradition ever since it's inception in the Philippines in the 1970s. People flock to the malls to enjoy it's cool air conditioning and escape the warm Philippine climate. Now Manila shopping contributes to the ever growing traffic especially during the holidays. The Gateway Mall Araneta Center, Quezon City This mall is one of the two malls in the Araneta Center that opened in 2004. One of my favorite malls, it won the 2006-2007 mall of the year award. Ali Mall in Cubao, Quezon City Is one of the first mall that opened in 1976 with two movie houses, Ali 1 and Ali 2. It was named in honor of Muhammad Ali for his victory against Joe Frazier in the Thrilla of Manila in October 1975.It since went through several expansions and renovations. Trinoma Mall Is an elegantly designed mall along EDSA in Quezon City close to SM North EDSA Mall. This mall opened in May 2007 and was developed by the Ayala Land Inc. SM North EDSA in Quezon City Opened in 1985 and continually expanded and is now a supermall and is one the ten largest malls in the world. SM Megamall in Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City Also a supermall that opened in 1991, it is also one of the ten largest malls of the world. SM Mall of Asia in Roxas Blvd, Pasay City Shopping in Manila will never be complete without visiting the world's third largest mall. A day is not enough to cover the whole Mall of Asia. Of course if you just walk through every corridor within it you can, but where's the fun in that? We want to check everything it's got within it and a day is simply not enough. Tiendesitas on C-5 Road, Pasig City I find this place alluring with it's Filipiniana theme that houses around 450 stalls for merchants from all over the Philippines that sells native products from different regions. Foods, clothing, furniture, antiques, etc., even pets. Greenhills Shopping Center in Ortigas Ave., San Juan City When Greenhills Shopping Center is mentioned, the first thing that pops out of my mind is bargains!Really cheap merchandises like cell phones, apparels and accessories and lots of restaurants around.
