Exciting Philippine Cities, My Top 10 List
There are many Philippine cities that serves as hubs to a lot of exciting destinations around the country. Many cities are accessible by air, land and water transportation, while some only by air and water and some only by land. Aside from the regular transportation like an airplane, train, bus, boats and ships, there are also other transportation unique to the cities in Philippines like the jeepney, trikes (locally called tricycle), kalesa, and banka. These unique Philippine transportation are usually for short distance travel around different localities. Top among the Philippine cities is Manila. It is the capital of the country and it is part of Metro Manila or the National Capital Region. Metro Manila is made up of 16 cities and 1 municipality with around 20 million people. It is the most populous region in the Philippines. Cebu city in the island province of Cebu was the first capital of the Philippines. Situated in the Central Visayas region, Cebu can be reached by plane and by boat from Manila. Famous for it's annual Sinulog festival, it is the most frequented city in the south by tourists. Davao City is in the far south of the country on the southern tip of Mindanao. Famous for it's dive spots, it is also home to some of the country's attractions. Mt. Apo, the highest mountain in the Philippines, can be viewed from Davao City. Other places to visit here are Pearl Farm Resort, Eden Nature Park, and Crocodile Park. Cagayan de Oro is a city north of Mindanao where adventure is a plenty. Attractions and activities here include white water rafting, zip line and rappelling, spelunking, tubing, several waterfalls, and a jump off point to the beautiful Camiguin island. Baguio City is the most popular summer destination among the Philippines cities because of it's temperate climate. There are several scenic destinations in the city and almost each one of those destinations have available souvenirs for sale. Legazpi City in the Bicol Region is perhaps the most visited city in southern Luzon because of the famous Mayon Volcano. It is a set off point to different attractions in Bicol like Donsol, in Sorsogon for it's whale shark Watching. Other destinations close to Legazpi city are the Cagsawa Ruins, Misibis resort, Lignon Hill, Mayon Skyline, and many more. Tagbilaran City in the island province of Bohol is the first stop and the jump off point to the many attractions in Bohol like the Chocolate Hills, Panglao Island, Danao, Balicasag and Pamilacan Islands, and also witness the world's smallest primate, the Philippine Tarsier. Naga City in Camarines Sur is known for it's popular religious event, the Peñafrancia. The city is also a popular jump off point for tourists and adventurers going to Camsur Watersport Complex (CWC), Caramoan Peninsula, Mt. Isarog, and others. Puerto Princesa is among the new found tourist destination of the Philippine cities and is also the gateway to the exciting island of Palawan. Commercial flights are available to the city from Manila. From Puerto Princesa, other destinations to the island are accessible either by land or by sea. It is a cheaper rout to the famous El Nido. Laoag City in Ilocos Norte has historical, cultural, and natural attractions. While in Laoag, visitors check out the Sand Dunes from the coast of Currimao to the coast of Pasuquin. Other attractions include several waterfalls, Paoay Lake National Park, and of course the white sand beaches in Pagudpud.
