Enjoy Nasugbu, It's Got a Lot

Nasugbu has more than just the beaches. Visitors frequent this municipality in Batangas for several other activities like trekking the mountains of Pico de Loro, Mt. Talamitam, or Mt. Batulao. Me, I just enjoy the town, and the people because it is my wife's hometown. Being here a lot made me take sport fishing as a hobby. I usually go deep sea fishing when there's a chance.

It's white sandy beaches, which you can find in the coves, and it's close proximity to Manila make Nasugbu a popular tourist destination. With a private vehicle, you can actually make a day trip to this town because it is only two hours away from Manila via Tagaytay.

Nasugbu's wonderful beaches are inside several coves located north of the poblacion (town proper), where luxury and exclusive resorts are also located. Public access to these white sandy beaches are possible via a chartered boat ride from Barangay Wawa. Road access is also possible if you have your own ride but you'll have to go through the expensive resorts. If price is not an issue then you might as well try some of the luxurious and beautiful resorts in Nasugbu.

The Landing in Nasugbu, Batangas, Philippines
Canyon Cove is the closest resort to the poblacion and as you go further north, there are several others you can find. Hamilo Coast is the last one of this string of resorts and probably the best like paradise. It is owned and developed by SM Land and is more exclusive in nature primarily for it's residents.

For scuba divers, places of interest in Nasugbu are Fortune Island, Twin Islands, Punta Fuego Point, Calayo cove, and Hamilo cove. Fortune Island is a private island owned by former Batangas governor Leviste and is leased by a resort operator in Barangay Wawa for their scuba diving ventures.

Sport fishing in the area is slowly gaining popularity among anglers from Manila and from other Asian countries. Fishes that are caught here include large grouper, red snapper, giant trevally, wahoo, barracuda and sail fish, which are common in the offshores of Batangas. Deep sea fishing here can have a large yield if you know a local guide who is familiar with the waters where fishes can be found frequently, plus arm yourself with a fishfinder as well. Ka Dilo is the one I highly recommend as a guide for fishing. He has his own outrigger boat and you can find him in Nasugbu's municipal beach in Brgy. Wawa.

Saint Francis Xavier Church in Nasugbu, Batangas, Philippines
The town fiesta is on December 3 when the feast of Saint Francis Xavier, the town's patron saint, is celebrated. Colorful street parades by different marching bands, and municipal field auditorium shows are among the festivities during the town fiesta with a finale of a firework show within the town's park grounds.

The two bus lines that travel here from Pasay City are BSC and Mindanao Express. Both bus lines have air conditioned buses and their terminals are in Pasay City near the MRT Taft ave terminal . Tricycles are the main form of public transportation in Nasugbu. There are also fast food chains here like Jollibee, Chow King and Mang Inasal. The public market is big and it even gets bigger in terms of merchant number during Market Day which is on Sundays.
