Mayon Volcano is the Philippines' Most Active and Most Beautiful Volcano
Mayon Volcano is an active stratovolcano in the province of Albay in the Bicol Region. Known for it's almost perfect cone shape, it rises 8,077 ft high above sea level, higher than
Mount Isarog
in Camarines Sur. A famous landmark of Albay province, it is bounded by Legazpi City, Daraga, Camalig, Guinobatan, Ligao City, Tabaco City, Malilipot and Santo Domingo.

Perhaps the Philippines' most photographed attraction, Mayon is nature's work of art. It is also the most active volcano in the Philippines. Cities, towns, and tourist destinations surround this picturesque marvel and uses it as a natural backdrop. First time travelers are simply in awe upon witnessing this wonder at close range. From afar Mount Mayon serves as a romantic setting especially in a clear day in late afternoons. From Manila, it can be reached by either land or air. Legazpi City is the most popular jump off point to view and to get to the volcano. There are hotels and restaurants in the city for accommodation and dining. Vans and taxis are available for hire to go to the different attractions around Mayon and Albay province. Arrangement can be done in the airport or hotels to hire or charter a vehicle. Ligñon Hill is a famous landmark in Legazpi City that rises to a little over 500 ft high beside the city's airport. It is one of the best places to view the majestic volcano and presents a 360 degrees view of Legazpi and the Albay Gulf. Within it is a zipline for the thrill seekers.

Cagsawa Ruins in Daraga is an interesting place to visit. What remains after a volcanic eruption in 1814 is a church bell tower. The Ruins have been photographed millions of times with Mayon as a background. Another exciting place to visit is the Mayon Skyline which is 1/3 up the eastern slope of the volcano. It presents a great panoramic view of the
Bicol Region
and the Pacific Ocean. From its occasional eruptions to its serene state, so much has been written about Mayon Volcano. It continues to attract people from all walks of life like the scientists, artists, tourists and even long time residents. I've seen it a hundred times, though never while it was erupting, since I was a kid and to this day i still want to look at it and still admire it very much.
