La Union Philippines is Surfing Capital North of Manila

La Union Philippines, is a province in the Ilocos Region some 260 kilometers up north from Manila. It's capital, San Fernando City, is the only city of the province and along with 19 other municipalities make up the province of La Union. To it's north is Ilocos Sur, to the east is Benguet, and to it's south is Pangasinan.

West of La Union is the South China Sea where stretch of beaches line up along it's shore. Famous for it's water sports, tourist flock here for snorkeling, scuba diving, and surfing, The beaches in San Fernando and San Juan are the most frequented ones and the surfs are best from July to February and also after a storm. There are also several reefs in the area for the scuba diving enthusiasts.

Several waterfalls are also a site to see while in La Union and the Tuddingan Falls in the Municipality of Naguilian is the most accessible and can be reached by foot on a 700 meter concrete pathway.

Also known for it's cottage industry, La Union is popular for it's Pottery-making in Taboc, San Juan, and Blanket-weaving in Bangar. Plenty of tourist cannot resist taking home some of wonderful products available in this Ilocos Region gem.
