Cagayan de Oro The City of Golden Friendship
Cagayan de Oro (CDO), known as the City of Golden Friendship because of it's friendly people, lies 490 miles south of Manila on the northern coast of Mindanao. Travel time from Manila is about 75 minutes by plane and about 30 hrs by boat. It is also the jump off point to the beautiful Camiguin Island. Cagayan de Oro is one of the progressive cities in Mindanao and it is also northern Mindanao's business center. Some of the favored hotels here are the De Luxe Hotel, Cagayan River View Inn, Hotel Conchita, and Mallberry Suites Business Hotel. This city is also the number one White Water Rafting destination in the Philippines along the Cagayan river where kayaking is also a thrilling activity. The Macahambus Adventure Park where activities like zipline, rappelling, spelunking, and mountain trekking have gained popularity in recent years. Other popular destinations include Malasag Nature Trail and Eco Tourism Village, Mapawa Nature Park, and several beautiful waterfalls and picnic areas. While in Cagayan de Oro, a trip to Camiguin Island is a must have, otherwise the visit to this city would not be complete.
