Anilao Batangas and
it's famous Scuba Diving

Anilao Batangas in the municipality of Mabini might not be a popular beach destination but it is famous for scuba diving and snorkeling because of it's rich corals. This must be the birth place of scuba diving in the Philippines and it is still the mecca of diving for dive enthusiasts.

It is a district in the town of Mabini which is in the province of Batangas. Diving, snorkeling, swimming, sports fishing and island hopping are just some of the many things you can do in Anilao Batangas. There are scuba resorts that offer diving lessons at a very reasonable price and If you want to experience how life is underneath the water, then learning how to scuba dive in one of these would be a good idea.

Commercial fishing of any form is not allowed in Mabini. Hook and line fishing are allowed except in the Twin Rocks, Arthur's Rock, and the Cathedral which are all in Mabini, and the Batalang Bato in Tingloy since these spots are designated sanctuaries. Spearfishing with scuba gears of any form is not allowed either.

Only 2 to 3 hours drive from Manila, a lot of people visit Anilao Batangas for a weekend dive. there are over 20 dive sites within the area, and one diver, whether a novice or an expert can choose which dive site is right for him and his skill. The ideal time to dive in Anilao is between November to May when the water is clear and calm.

The best dive sites within Anilao Batangas are in Maricaban Island which is a short boat ride away. Most dive sites line up between the shores of Anilao to the island of Maricaban. A lot more dive sites can be found around Sombrero Island, Ligpo Island, Mapating Rock, and many more and as you island hop around Anilao, you can spot many ideal sites that will suit your skills in diving and snorkeling.
